It's that time of year again
Since everybody's up in arms over lack of Megamix rankings due to events beyond my control, I'm making filler. Deal with it.
August 31st was the deadline for Sonic Retro's Hacking Contest 2008. This is usually when the most prestigious hacks come out of the closet and release public betas -- however, this year almost nobody with a big-name hack wanted to show their work to the public, so there were very few public releases. The best of those that did surface, however, are on Sonic Retro's front page.
In honor of the two ROMs of awesome that surfaced along with mine, I'm opening up rankings for the finished parts of these hacks as a change of pace from the lolity of the last bunch of hacks RPG added to the site *shot*. A quick breakdown:
Sonic 1 Pixel Perfect
This is a comprehensive art and layout edit of Green Hill Zone by JcFerggy and NovaWizard. Nova's level layout is extremely flowing, and JC's art takes a cue from Sonic 1 Megamix with windows poking from the sides of the landscape. Spindash has been added, as have dynamic palettes and new loops.
Sonic 2 Advanced Edit
By Rika Chou, this is possibly the best-known Sonic 2 hack, and for good reason. The art is very abstract and eye-catching, level layout bounces erratically between speed sections, platforming, and downright cheap setups --sorry Rika, I'm opinionated :( -- and there's a whopping six acts up for show. Level selecting to Mystic Cave, however, reveals a fourth zone nearly completed. Before anybody asks: no, the Casino Night acts under construction aren't going on the rankings.
Sonic 2 Retro Remix
Call it a shameless plug if you must, but I'm not listening to you. After DNXDelta and Iwere kicked off left something involving not working for the Pixel Perfect team, this hack spawned from the oozy remains. DNX has a completely different art direction than Pixel Perfect does, and level layouts... well, it's not fair for me to talk up my own, k?
Okay, compete pplz.

BOING!
As you may have noticed, a large amount of new games have been added to TSC :O
Sonic 1 Bouncy!
A hax where Sonic bounces. All the time. Its quite fun, controls listed in the youtube video description.
Sonic 1 Return to the Origin!
A hack by carretero, whom some of you may recognise as the chap that discovered a lot of the more recent S1 TAS tricks. In this hack Sonic begins each level at the end and has to work his way back to the start.
Super Sonic 1
Thorn EDIT: Puto's name for this was "The S Challenge". Pay no attention to the blathering RPG.
Super Sonic in Sonic 1. I believe that says it all. Made by Pu7o, and unfortunatly I couldn't find a link, which is why you'll have to make do with that MegaUpload link for now until Ive asked Gerbil if he'd mind hosting it.
Sonic 1 Difficult Delusions!
Er yeah this is my hack >_>. Rick requested it, direct all complaints towards him. I made the Marble Boss a bit easier though, and fixed some problems throughout the levels. And the Point Markers are easier to find now too~ Rom attached to this post~
Sonic 2Z
Mystic's hack of Sonic 2, ramping up the difficulty quite a tad. You may have noticed I am getting quite tired of writing these little decriptions, I advise playing the game >_>
Sonic 2 Delta II v1.0a, and Sonic 2 Ultimate!
Both of these games can be found at the above link, S2U is a simple physics hack, unfortunatly, as most of the altered levels were never finished and are thus unbeatable, which is quite a shame from how impressive Metropolis was looking. S2D2V1.0a on the other hand adds several levels to the already large amount existing in S2, and tweaks some of the older levels, most notably the changing of the amount of rings in each level. And new characters/character setups!
When Tails Gets High
Or, When Thorn Gets Bored. Physics hack of S2 making Tails epic. Not currently hosted anywhere at present so Ill be asking Gerbil nicely at some point.
Thorn EDIT: I swear, I didn't ask him to do this...
And lastly, Sonic 2 Armageddon! Which I am currently not linking because I seem to have played two different versions of it lately and I have no idea which is the right fucking one, so Ill be asking MK soon.
Get cracking kiddos :o

S1MM rankings fixed
I fixed the problems with S1MM rankings, but totals won't be recalculated correctly until every S1MM player submits a new stat in each division in each category. If you're playing in S1MM, please submit a new stat in each division in each category so totals can be calculated correctly.
Also, partial totals for rings and scores weren't calculated before due to the way partial totaling was configured. If you submitted there, please submit (or resubmit) a stat to get your partial total calculated.

Oh snap.
So basically, there has been an update to S1T over at Hacking Cult which fixes the majority of the bugs in the game, Ive been trying it out a little and to my delight it doesnt appear to freeze in the middle of levels anymore.
HOWEVER.
That glitch that gives you infinite flight and speeds you along when you fly just above the top of the level? Its gone. Flying above the top of the screen is still possible, just you dont get propelled forward and you cant jump and begin flying again.
As such, anyone who used this glitch to achieve their times -MUST- replace their stats immediatly. I dont remember which levels I used it in aside from SL2, so Im nuking all of mine and re-TAing them at a later date.
Minor Edit: Apart from Labyrinth 1 and 3, Scrap Brain 3 and Final Zone, because they have ceilings so there is no way I could've used it there <_<

New games
First and foremost, Id like to point out that to those not already aware, Thorns hack, Sonic Turbo, is now up for competition over here.
Features:
- Completely new levels
- Different physics for Sonic as well as Tails
- New musics
- New art and pallettes
- Completely new speed/slow shoe system
As well as a game for consideration, which can be summed up with the following two lines:
[Hayley|Charts] HOLY SHIT
[Hayley|Charts] THAT IS THE GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN
